Q. My floating network license runs on the server, but not on the client machines. Why?

A. Please make sure that Flexlm is running as a service on your server computer and that your client machines can "ping" the server. Also, verify that the license file on the client machines either is a copy of the gauss.lic file for the server or is a client.lic file that points to the server. A second step is to open a command window on the client computer and run the command:

    telnet servername 27000

By default lmgrd listens on ports 27000 to 27009 if it is not specified. If you have a different port in use by your server, please use that port instead.

If the client cannot connect to the server and the service is running, then there may be either a network issue or a server firewall issue. Many firewall issues can be resolved by specifying a port in your server license for both the Flexlm and ATECHLM vendor daemons and then opening those two ports on your firewall.
